Speed Sculpt Test


Just got around to trying out Zbrush R4 and have to say I`m astonished as always. here`s my first attempt at making a curve brush. gave myself an hour to do this, including watching the tutorial on making the brush. will definitely do more of these.

Old Work Dump - 2D

Since I'm going to start using this site as a jump pad for my portfolio, I best get some of my other works up here.
     
Work I completed at this year's Global Game Jam. The theme was Ouroboros, so my team settled on a black hole flight sim. for my first cooperative game with other first years, it isn't a bad start.                                                   
Photo-manipulation project; took several images from different angles and assemble them into a single piece. Overall, the project turned out okay, but the shadows need retouching and color balance needs work.
 
Digital Painting experiment; working on "carve out" from black. I've seen this style preferred by some people I've followed and watched. I like the method.
 
 Design concepts for the Doctor Who Society of Canada, a fan-made group. The circle design was selected to be made into merchandise by the group.

Damn, its been a while. far too long. the Deff Dread is done, of sorts. still not sure what exactly to do with the damn thing. Started several other projects; a charecter model, two UT3 maps and working on assets for a game concept. should result in more interesting and completed posts.

hate it when you want to do work and its stupid late or inaccessible at the moment. or when you lose focus on projects and they drag out. I still have pieces with design docs attached to them from years ago. only one, two pieces made.... and I still think they're good.

Updates and more Life Drawing

I finally solved the issue with the hip on the model, it took some additional fudging around but it looks like there is a column that goes through the leg which it rotates on that way.

Moving past that I have begun construction of the main body of the mech, the "Can" of the DD. lots of details have gone in it; looks like its a combination of electricity and gas power. I figure when I get a final version ready for animating I'll have the motors mounted on its back (currently their just boxes) shake and sputter for a secondary animation.

Deff Dread Project

Right now its just linked together, with the pistons bound to points. It sort of works, but at the moment I'm just working on general details and adding a certain amount of realism to the model- the figurine's limbs are attached via ball sockets and it doesn't seem appropriate given the rest of the mech's jointed-and-pistoned nature.

Another Solid Day's work tomorrow, looking forward to it.
